Crinkle: I’m sorry to have stopped you but I have something very important to ask you.
Lyla: That’s all right. I was due to stop for a breather anyway. I usually need a rest after I’ve been running for five hours.
Crinkle: Five hours! Your legs must be made of steel!
Lyla: I’m a Flitter. Running is one of the few things that we’re good at. The annual Flitter Championships are coming up soon and I want to be ready for the marathon.
Crinkle: This probably sounds an impertinent question, but are you any good at being good?
Lyla: I’m not very good at being bad so I suppose I must be good at being good. Why do you ask?
Crinkle: It’s a long story but I need to find some folk who will go to the Wishing Ring and think good thoughts.
Lyla: What sort of thoughts?
Crinkle: You could think about the occasions when you’ve been kind or how you’d like to help someone in distress. Things like that.
Lyla: I can do that all right. I’ll just get my breath back and then I’ll go.
